Celebrating CBI Impact!

Join us in celebrating our CollegeBound Initiative (CBI) students and alumni!

As our CBI seniors and alumni get ready for the next chapter in their story, we asked them what wisdom they would pass down to their peers who are preparing for college applications and going to college. Read on to meet and hear from some of the incredible young people in our CBI network! Then, send a special edition CBI e-card to a young person in your life!

CollegeBound to College grads!

Congratulations to our CBI alumni who have gone from CollegeBound to College Graduates! As they look ahead to the next step in their lives, we asked what words of advice they’d pass along to the Class of 2022 as they get ready to embark on their own postsecondary journey – click through to meet some of our CBI alumni and read their amazing advice to our graduating high school seniors!

“Find something that interests you and keep holding on to it. I was very ambitious in high school, as I thought of studying engineering and then going on to build a big spaceship. After taking my engineering major courses, I realized it is a lot tougher and the field can get competitive. In the middle of my college years, I was disappointed to think this may not be my path. But I loved making things work and it’s the reason I chose engineering. I held on to that passion tightly to get through my courses and I landed an opportunity to do research which took me to conferences and worldwide competitions. So, remember to hold onto that passion that got you started in the first place.”

My advice for rising seniors is to take it one step at a time and not stress yourself out; it’s not worth it and you’ll only exhaust yourself!

Jahcenya, going to Hartwick College

It is important to be organized … Visit colleges and if you are unable to do so, complete one virtually. It is also important to have two savings accounts – one in a bank and one in a piggy bank strictly for college.
